Tarkan Bastiyali is the Co-Founder of SmartSafe, a New York–based entrepreneur, inventor, and graduate of New York University. He has a proven track record of developing innovative technologies and transforming visionary ideas into patented solutions that address real-world challenges.
In 2020, Tarkan launched BastiyaliInventions.com, a platform dedicated to showcasing his patented, forward-thinking innovations across a wide range of industries. While his portfolio reflects a broad spectrum of innovation, his greatest passion is SmartSafe—a breakthrough automotive safety technology designed to eliminate distracted driving and help prevent accidents.
SmartSafe is protected by utility and design patents granted in the United States and key international markets, including China, India, and Germany, with intellectual property protection extending to more than 15 countries worldwide.
SmartSafe represents the culmination of Tarkan Bastiyali’s vision to transform road safety through innovation. Designed to help save lives by preventing distracted driving, it reflects his unwavering commitment to making roads safer for drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and communities around the world.

With over three decades of experience at the intersection of automotive innovation, engineering, and product development, Tim Cook is the strategic force behind SmartSafe’s go-to-market strategy and safety-driven mission.
Before co-founding SmartSafe in 2024, Tim held leadership roles at some of the most respected names in the automotive industry — including General Motors, Magna International, and Textron. From pioneering exterior lighting design at GM to program management roles at Magna’s Autosystems division, Tim has consistently brought complex engineering products to market with precision, performance, and purpose.
Most recently, Tim served as Business Development Manager at CpK Interior Products, where he led growth initiatives for over 9 years, combining deep technical knowledge with customer-focused execution.
A mechanical engineering graduate of Durham College, Tim brings hands-on expertise in CAD/CAM systems, product release cycles, and OEM partnership development. Now, as co-founder of SmartSafe, he applies his passion for automotive safety, connected systems, and real-world impact to help create technology that prevents accidents before they happen.

Director -INDIAN SUBCONTINENT
Jayant Gupta is a management graduate from the Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB), India, with over two decades of experience in international business, sales, and strategic partnerships. He has held leadership roles with leading textile companies in India and overseas, successfully developing global markets and building long-term relationships with customers across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
An avid traveller, Jayant has visited more than 50 countries, providing him with valuable insights into global business practices, cross-cultural negotiations, and international market dynamics.
Currently, Jayant heads the operations for the Indian subcontinent at Smart Safe, leading business development and strategic engagement with automotive OEMs. He has been instrumental in initiating and advancing discussions with leading manufacturers, including Tata Motors, Mahindra, Force Motors, TVS Motor Company, Ashok Leyland, and other industry leaders, supporting the introduction of Smart Safe’s innovative driver distraction and road safety solutions. His ability to bridge technology with customer needs and foster strategic collaborations has been central to Smart Safe’s expansion in the region.
